Mega Millions Makes Boston Man A Millionaire

A lottery ticket purchased at a convenience store turned into a hefty check for one Boston man.

The first five numbers on Melvin McKenzie's Quic Pic ticket matched those drawn in the Mega Millions drawing held on Friday, April 14, securing a $1 million win for McKenzie, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. 

The newly-minted millionaire plans on buying a house with his winnings. 

McKenzie bought his ticket at Quick Pick Convenience, located at 973 Tremont Street in Boston. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of the lucky ticket. 

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday in Atlanta, Georgia.
